Biography

The New Amsterdams was an American indie rock project led by Matt Pryor, also known as the vocalist of The Get Up Kids. Initially a solo venture, the project took its name from the song "New Amsterdam". Their debut album, Never You Mind, was released in 2000, followed by Para Toda Vida (2002) and Worse for the Wear (2003), the latter marking a fuller band-oriented sound. Later releases include Story Like a Scar (2006) and At the Foot of My Rival (2007), many of which were issued through Vagrant Records. They released two music videos for "Turn Out the Light" (2006) and "Fountain of Youth" (2007). The project became largely inactive after the late 2000s as Pryor focused on other work.
