Biography

Naheed Akhtar was born on September 26, 1956, in Multan, Punjab, Pakistan. She is a Pakistani playback singer. Her career began in 1970 when she sang a duet with Khalid Asghar in "Raag Malhar" at Radio Pakistan Multan. She was discovered for films by music director M. Ashraf and made her film debut in Nanha Farishta (1974), followed by songs in Shama. She became a top Lollywood playback singer in the 1970s and 80s, contributing 590 songs in 436 Urdu and Punjabi films. Notable songs included "Main Noo Soda Water Le De We Roz Baalma Kehndi". She won three Nigar Awards for her singing and received the Pride of Performance award in 2007. She left singing in 1986.
