Will Brooks, from Newark, New Jersey, is the founding MC and producer of the American experimental hipâhop group Dälek. After acquiring an MPC3000 with a college scholarship, he formed the group with Alap Momin (aka The Oktopus) and Joshua Booth (guitar, keyboards), releasing the debut Negro Necro Nekros in 1998. Signing to Ipecac Recordings, the band followed with From Filthy Tongue of Gods and Griots (2002), Absence (2005), and Abandoned Language (2007), gaining attention for their dense, industrialâinfluenced sound. They followed up with Untitled (2010) and Asphalt for Eden (2016) before a brief hiatus (2011â2015). Resuming activity, Dälek released Endangered Philosophies (2017) and Precipice (2022), collaborating with Adam Jones. The group has toured extensively, sharing stages with acts from Godflesh to De La Soul, and continues to influence the underground hipâhop and experimental music scenes. After a collaboration with Charles Hayward on HaywardxDälek (2025), they released Brilliance of a Falling Moon (2026).
