Biography

It was in Sacramento, California, that the Death Grips project was initiated by Zach Hill and Stefan Burnett, who knew each other from growing up on the same street. The latter's experience, previously involved in a highly experimental rap project with his brother, was a driving force. A first single was released in 2011, shortly before the mixtape Exmilitary. Noticed and signed by Epic Records in 2012, the band released two albums in quick succession, The Money Store and No Love Deep Web, before being asked by Icelandic artist Björk to remix two tracks for the Biophilia Remix Series album. In 2013, with the Epic hiatus behind them, Death Grips announced the creation of their own independent label, Third Worlds, and promised a double album entitled The Powers That B in 2014. But in the middle of the summer of the same year, Death Grips' split was officially announced via Facebook. This only lasted until the end of 2015, when a new album was announced. Bottomless Pit is finally released in May 2016.
