Biography

Murat Ses, born in 1946 in Bayraklı, Izmir, Turkey, is a Turkish musician known for his pioneering work in electronic music. He began his career as a keyboardist and co-founder of the group Moğollar, contributing significantly to their 1971 album Danses et Rythmes de la Turquie d'hier à aujourd'hui, which won the Grand Prix du Disque. Ses is credited with developing the Anadolu Rock/Pop genre, blending traditional Turkish folk music with rock and blues, notably through his Hammond organ solos. In the 1970s, he collaborated with notable artists such as Baris Manço and Edip Akbayram. After moving to Austria in the late 1970s, Ses released his debut solo album Automaton in 1990, followed by several others including Electric Levantine (2006) and Beside the Sun (2010). His unique style, "Electric Levantine," combines microtonal Turkish music with electronic elements.
