Munich Machine was a German disco project based in Munich, led by producer Giorgio Moroder. The group was active from 1976 to 1980 and included producers Pete Bellotte, Günther Moll, Gary Unwin, bassist Stefan Wissnet, guitarist Mats Björklund, and American singer Christine Bennett. Their breakthrough came with the release of their debut single "Classically Elise" in 1976. The group's first album, Disco Symphony, was released in 1977, followed by their self-titled album Munich Machine later that year. The latter included their most successful track, "Get on the Funk Train", which reached number 50 of the UK charts and peaked at number 7 on the American Billboard Dance Charts. In 1978, Munich Machine released a cover version of Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale", which also charted in the UK Top 50 and reached number 22 on the Billboard Dance Charts. Their album Body Shine was released in 1979, featuring the single "Party Light / Let Your Body Shine", which peaked at number 33 on the US Dance Charts. The group disbanded in 1980 following the release of their final single, "Guerreros del Espacio / Bolectro". Posthumous releases include Get On The Funk Train (1996) and Disco Piano Power (2012).
