Biography
Movietone is an English post-rock band formed in Bristol in 1994. Led by principal songwriter Kate Wright and Rachel Brook, the group also includes longtime drummer Matt Jones, who has recorded and mixed much of their work. Wright has performed with Crescent and 1000 Dawns, while Brook was an early member of Flying Saucer Attack. Movietone recorded three John Peel Sessions between 1994 and 1997. Their fourth album, The Sand and the Stars (2003), was partly recorded live on a bay near Land's End. The band's music has also been featured on the soundtrack to the 2007 film Hallam Foe. Other albums include Movietone (1995), Day and Night (1997), and The Bottom Filled Streets (2000).
