Biography

Monarchy, a British electronic music duo consisting of Andrew Armstrong and Ra Black, was formed in London in 2009. Initially known as Milke, they gained early recognition when The Guardian named them "Group of the Day" in November 2009. Their debut single "Gold in the Fire" was released by Neon Gold Records in February 2010. Monarchy's first live performance was broadcast to space from Cape Canaveral in June 2010, making them the first band to perform live in space. They signed with Mercury Records in early 2010 but left later that year. Their debut album Around the Sun was released by 100% Records in July 2011 and included notable tracks such as "The Phoenix Alive", which appeared in the video game FIFA 12. The duo has created remixes for artists including Ellie Goulding, Lady Gaga, and Marina and the Diamonds. Their subsequent albums include Re\Vision (2015) and Mid:Night (2019).
