Biography

Northern Lite, a German electronic music group originating from Erfurt, was formed in 1997 by Andreas Kubat and Sebastian Bohn. The duo initially focused on techno but later incorporated rock elements into their sound. In 2001, Larry Lowe joined as a guitarist, bringing his rock influences to the group. Lowe's tenure was short-lived, however, as he was replaced by Sascha Littek in 2004. Northern Lite gained prominence through live performances in small clubs across Germany and later expanded their reach to Spain, England, and Japan. The group released their debut album Small Chamber Works in 1999, followed by the EP Treat Me Better in 2001. Their breakthrough came with the release of "Gone" in 2004 and "Go With The Flow" in 2005. In 2006, they released their album Unisex, which included the single "Enemy", performed alongside Chapeau Claque for the Bundesvision Song Contest 2007, where Northern Lite represented Thuringe and finished sixth. Notable albums include Super Black (2008), Letters & Signs – Part One (2009), and Back to the Roots (2018). The group has also released several remixes for artists such as Rammstein, Peaches, and Yello. Northern Lite's discography spans over two decades, with their latest album, A History of Love, released in 2024.
