Midnight Movies was an American indie rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 2002. The group consisted of Gena Olivier on vocals and drums, Larry Schemel on guitar, and Jason Hammons on keyboards and guitar. Within a year, Midnight Movies became prominent on the L.A. music scene and received a nomination for Best New Artist at the L.A. Weekly Music Awards in May 2003. Their self-released six-song EP arrived shortly after, followed by another nomination for Best Pop/Rock band in spring 2004. The band's debut studio album, Midnight Movies, was released on Emperor Norton Records that August. In 2007, the group returned with Lion the Girl. Their final show took place at Spaceland (now The Satellite) on June 16, 2008.
