Biography
Pitch Black are a New Zealand electronica duo from Auckland who met in 1996. Their debut album Futureproof was released in Augustâ¯1998 and topped the Newâ¯Zealand electronic charts. In Septemberâ¯2000, they followed with Electronomicon, which sparked a 30âdate tour of Newâ¯Zealand and Australia. The duoâs third studio effort, Ape to Angel, launched in Octoberâ¯2004, received critical acclaim and led to a 42âshow world tour, including their first US performances. Subsequent releases include Rude Mechanicals (2007), Filtered Senses (2016), and Third Light (2019), each accompanied by remix collections and extensive touring. Their tracks have appeared in films such as Whale Rider and the television series CSI:â¯Miami, and they contributed music and sound design to Metia Interactiveâs Cube for the PlayStation Portable.
