Matthias Thomas Blöcher, known professionally as Matthias Carras, was born on December 21, 1964, in Wehrda, Germany. He was a German pop and Schlager singer, DJ, and television presenter. After working as a retail salesperson and DJ, he released his first single under the name Matthias Carras in 1991. His breakthrough came with the singles "Ich krieg nie genug von dir" and "Ich bin dein Co-Pilot", leading to a full-time music career and the release of his debut album Bitte anschnallen in 2000. Throughout the 2000s, Carras released several albums, including Verliebt (2002), Kein Typ wie früher (2009), and Ansonsten gehtâs mir gut (2011). He also collaborated with other artists, notably as part of Carras & Friends for the song "Du bist für mich da". After retiring from music in 2015 due to chronic depression, he returned with his final album, Endlich frei, in 2022. Diagnosed with cancer in October 2020, Matthias Thomas Blöcher passed away on January 14, 2023.
