Markus Reuter, born on September 3, 1972 in Lippstadt, Germany, is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, record producer, and instrument designer. He began musical training at age three as a pianist, later expanding into classical guitar and mandolin. Reuter's career as a recording artist began in the mid-1990s, initially playing Chapman Stick before switching to Warr Guitar around 1997. He released his debut album Eleven Questions in 2007. Notable releases include Todmorden 513 (2012), marking his transition into contemporary classical composition, and collaborations with artists such as Tim Motzer on "Star's End" (2012). Reuter has been a member of various bands and ensembles, including centrozoon, Stick Men, Tuner, The Crimson ProjeKct, and Europa String Choir. He is also known for developing the U8 and U10 Touch Guitar instruments. Following the three Monde albums released in 2019, Markus Reuter debuted the Truce trilogy in 2020, with a second release in 2022 and Truce 3 in 2025. The same year, he recorded Incubation with long-time collaborator Robert Rich.
