Markus Mehr, born in 1965 in Augsburg, Bavaria, is a German electronic music composer and sound artist. He started his career playing guitar in the new wave band The Unemployed Ministers from 1989 to 1997. In 2001, he began a solo project under the name Aroma, releasing three albums over five years. Mehr began performing under his own name as an electronic composer starting in 2008 and signed with Australian record label Hidden Shoal Recordings in 2010. He released several notable albums, including Lava (2010), In (2012), On (2012), and Off (2013). Mehr has performed live extensively, collaborating with visual artist Stefanie Sixt on various audiovisual installations. His work includes scoring the theatrical production First Life in 2013 and releasing the album Dyschronia, which was part of A Closer Listening Top Ten in 2017. In 2018, he released Liquid Empires, featuring underwater recordings.
