Aryan Ashtiani, known professionally as Mareux, and born on February 22, 1992, in Los Angeles, California, is a musician. His initial interest in music was sparked by eurodance and post-punk revival bands like Interpol and Editors. In 2013, he released his first EP Decade under the name Mareux. After a hiatus from 2015 to 2018 to pursue a career in healthcare, Ashtiani returned to music with the EP Predestiny in 2020. His breakthrough came in 2021 when his cover of "The Perfect Girl" by The Cure went viral in social media, accumulating over 2.3 billion plays and 250 million streams on an online streaming platform by May 2023. This success led to a music video featuring Violet Chachki and performances at the Coachella festival in April 2023. Mareux released his debut album Lovers from the Past on May 5, 2023, preceded by singles like "Glass" with King Woman and "Night Vision".
