Biography

Manfred Mann Chapter Three, a British experimental jazz rock band, was founded in 1969 by keyboard player Manfred Mann and Mike Hugg. Their debut performance took place at Newcastle's Mayfair Ballroom on October 24, 1969. The band released two studio albums: Manfred Mann Chapter Three (1969) and Manfred Mann Chapter Three Volume Two (1970). A planned third album was shelved. In April and May 1971, the band embarked on a tour of Australia and New Zealand with Deep Purple and Free, but this tour was cut short due to an altercation with the promoter, leading to their disbandment. Manfred Mann went on to form Manfred Mann's Earth Band later that year.
