Ian Gillan Band was formed in 1975 by Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan. After a brief hiatus, Ian Gillan returned to the stage following a guest appearance at Roger Gloverâs Butterfly Ball in Octoberâ¯1975, prompting the creation of the band with guitarist Ray Fenwick, bassist John Gustafson, drummer Mark Nauseef and keyboardist Mike Moran. Their debut album Child in Time was released in 1976, reaching numberâ¯55 on the UK charts; Clear Air Turbulence followed in 1977, and Scarabus the same year. The band toured Japan and Europe, was dropped by Island Records after Scarabus. In 1978, Gillan disbanded the group, formed Gillan, and a live album Live at the Budokan was issued.
