Biography

Mal Blum, born on July 7, 1988, in New York, is an American musician known for their work as a singer-songwriter. Blum began with self-released albums like Goodnight Sugarpop (2008) and Every Time You Go Somewhere (2010), often supported by self-booked DIY tours. In 2015, Blum signed to Don Giovanni Records and released the album You Look a Lot Like Me, marking a shift toward a more developed punk sound. Notable singles from this period include "Valentine’s Day" (2012) and a cover of Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" (2012). In 2019, Blum released Pity Boy, produced by Joe Reinhart of Hop Along and featuring Marissa Paternoster of Screaming Females. The EP Ain’t It Nice was released in April 2022, blending indie rock and Americana influences.
