Howdy Moon was a folk rock band formed in the United States of America. The group consisted of Valerie Carter, Richard Hovey, and Jon Lind. Howdy Moon emerged from the remnants of RJ Fox, a vocal trio led by Richard Hovey. In 1972, Valerie Carter joined the group, but they disbanded shortly after. Carter and Hovey continued their collaboration with singer-songwriter Jon Lind, forming Howdy Moon. The band was signed to A&M Records and performed at The Troubadour. Their self-titled debut album Howdy Moon was released in 1974 and featured contributions from musicians associated with Little Feat. Notable tracks include "Lovelight" by Richard Hovey, "Cheyenne Autumn" by Jon Lind, and "Cook With Honey" written by Valerie Carter, which became a minor hit for Judy Collins. After the band's disbandment, Lowell George produced Just a Stone's Throw Away, Valerie Carter's first solo album.
