Biography

The Hillside Singers were an American folk pop group formed in 1971. The ensemble was created by the advertising agency McCann Erickson to perform in a television commercial for Coca-Cola. Producer Al Ham assembled the group, which featured Mary Mayo and Lorri Ham. Their recording of the single “I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (in Perfect Harmony)” (1971) sold a million copies and reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 5 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Their debut album, I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (1971), reached number 71 on the Billboard 200. The group released the album Merry Christmas from the Hillside Singers (1972) and the single “We're Together” (1972), which reached number 100 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Hillside Singers became inactive in the early 1970s.
