Biography

Luke Winslow-King Balzuweit, born March 12, 1983, in Cadillac, Michigan, is an American guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. He began playing guitar at a young age and performed with his high school band. In 2001, he graduated from Interlochen Center for the Arts, majoring in jazz guitar. After moving to New Orleans in 2003, Winslow-King immersed himself in the local music scene, playing with various bands and musicians. His debut album Old/New Baby was released in 2008 via Earthwork Music. In 2012, he signed with Bloodshot Records and released several albums, including The Coming Tide (2013), Everlasting Arms (2014), and I'm Glad Trouble Don't Last Always (2016). Winslow-King's music is influenced by jazz, Delta blues, ragtime, and pre-war American folk. Notable songs include "Esther Please" from I'm Glad Trouble Don't Last Always and "Chicken Dinner" from Blue Mesa (2018).
