Biography
Luis Perdomo, born February 19, 1971, in Caracas, Venezuela, is an American jazz pianist and composer. At age 10, he began studying under Venezuelan musical icon Gerry Weil. By 12, Perdomo was already performing professionally on Venezuelan TV and radio stations. In 1993, at age 22, he moved to New York City after winning a scholarship audition for the Manhattan School of Music. His first album as leader, Focus Point, produced by Ravi Coltrane, was released in 2004. Notable subsequent releases include Awareness (2006), Pathways (2008), The âInfanciaâ Project (2012), Links (2013), and Spirits and Warriors (2016). Perdomo has collaborated with numerous artists including John BenÃtez and Miguel Zenón. He has also taught at institutions such as Queens College and Berklee College of Music. In 2024, Perdomo won a Grammy Award for his work with Miguel Zenón on their collaboration album El Arte Del Bolero Vol. 2 (2023).
