Rebeca Mauleón (born April 16, 1962) is an American salsa and Afro-Caribbean pianist, composer, arranger, and writer from Santa Monica, California. Mauleón launched her professional career as a performer during her teenage years. Her recording career featured the solo albums Round Trip (1999), Latin Fire (2004), and Descarga en California (2006), which reached the top ten on Latin music charts. Mauleón collaborated with musicians Tito Puente, Carlos Santana, Cachao, and Sheila E. She served as the musical director for Mickey Hart's Planet Drum ensemble, performing at Woodstock in 1999. Mauleón performed at the Women in Jazz Festival and the Monterey Jazz Festival. In 2001, she received the Meet the Composer New Residencies Award and was a Sundance Composers fellow. Her publications included the Salsa Guidebook (1993) and 101 Montunos (1999). Mauleón was appointed Director of Education at SFJAZZ in 2011 and served as a music professor at several universities.
