Biography

Lovehammers was formed in 1994 in Hickory Hills, Illinois, by vocalist Marty Casey, brothers Bob and Dino Kourelis, and guitarist Billy Sawilchik, who had previously played with the band 9 Arms. The group began as a cover band named Swinging Lovehammers, releasing their first full‑length album Ultrasound in 1997. After changing their name to Lovehammers in 2001, they released L'Strange and the EP How We Live. Their major‑label debut, Marty Casey & Lovehammers, was issued by Epic Records on January 24, 2006, following Casey’s runner‑up finish on Rockstar: INXS in 2005. The single "Guns" from Heavy Crown (2009) peaked at number 51 on Billboard’s Active Rock chart, and the 2012 album Set Fire entered Billboard’s New Artists and Heatseekers charts at number 13, with the single "Into the Insane" reaching number 51 on Active Rock and number 42 on Modern Rock. Lovehammers toured with Cake, Gomez, and INXS, and continued to record and perform through the 2010s.
