Llwybr Llaethog, an experimental Welsh dance band who mix genres such as rap, dub, reggae, hip hop, and punk in their music, was formed in London in 1985 by John Griffiths and Kevs Ford. The duo grew up in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Wales, influenced by the reggae and punk scenes of the UK. Their breakthrough came with the release of their Dull Di-Drais on Anhrefn Records in 1986, which showcased their unique blend of hip-hop, turntable scratching, and leftist political messages. The band's full-length album, Da!, was released in 1988 by Side Effects. Over the years, Llwybr Llaethog continued to release albums such as Be? (1990), Mad! (1996), and Hip-Dub Reggae-Hop (2000). Notable singles include "Pam?" (1990) and "Mera Desh" (1997). Llwybr Llaethog was also heavily promoted by English radio DJ John Peel.
