Biography

Louise Neale, known professionally as Lippy Lou, was born on 12 July 1975 in England and entered the electronic music scene as a vocalist in the mid‑1990s. Her early training in vocal performance led her to audition for the More Protein imprint, a label founded by Boy George that specialized in emerging dance and pop acts. In 1995, Lippy Lou released two singles, "Liberation" and "Freaks", both produced by Mike Koglin; the tracks entered the UK Top 100 singles chart, with "Liberation" earning a Billboard description as a “coming out anthem.” The latter single incorporated a chorus based on the Was (Not Was) track "Out Come the Freaks", illustrating Lippy Lou’s engagement with contemporary pop references.
