Biography

Limi-T 21, sometimes known as Limi-T XXI, emerged from Puerto Rico's vibrant music scene in 1990 and quickly became a pioneering force in merengue. Formed by Angel Ramiro Matos, Javier Bermúdez, and Elvin F. Torres Serrant, the group’s debut album, Limi-T 21, set the stage for their innovative sound in Latin music in 1991. Their 1992 release, No Hay Límite, and 1994’s Motivos Para Amar expanded their reach across Latin America, establishing their reputation as one of the genre’s most dynamic groups. A groundbreaking moment came in 1996 when they became the first merengue band to perform at Puerto Rico’s prestigious Centro de Bellas Artes. They continued their success with a series of acclaimed albums, including De lo Que Soy Capaz (1997) and Séptima Armonía (1999), many of which achieved platinum status. In 2006, they celebrated their 15th anniversary with the concert album Real Time, showcasing their enduring appeal. Their later releases, like Adictivo (2009) and Party and Dance (2013), reaffirmed their versatility and ability to innovate while staying true to their roots, solidifying Limi-T 21’s legacy as one of Puerto Rico's most beloved merengue groups. Despite not releasing much new music over the following years, the group returned in 2021 with the album LIMI-T Para Siempre, followed by the live LP Limi-T Para Siempre Live! in 2024. That year, Limi-T 21 collaborated with singer Olga Tañón on the track "Se Vale," which peaked at number 22 on the US Tropical Airplay chart.
