Biography
Soul and pop singer Sarah Connor was born on June 13, 1980 under the name Sarah Marianne Corina Lewe. Even as a child, she sang in a Hamburg gospel choir and took dance classes. The singer began her musical career in 1998 and her breakthrough came in May 2001 with her debut single "Let's Get Back to Bed - Boy!" , which reached the top 10 in four countries. In August of the same year, the second single "French Kissing" was released and this was followed by "From Sarah with Love", which placed her at number one in the German charts. In just one week after its release, Connor's debut album Green Eyed Soul went gold and reached third place in the charts. The tour for the album took place in summer 2002. The artist's second album, Unbelievable, was released in September 2002 and reached gold status in 48 hours. Wyclef Jean contributed to the song "One Nite Stand (Of Wolves and Sheep)". Other singles from Unbelievable were "Bounce", "He's Unbelievable" and "Skin on Skin". The two singles "Just One Last Dance" and "Music Is the Key", which are part of the album Key to My Soul released at the end of 2003, reached the top one of the German charts. In 2004, the compilation album Sarah Connor was released in numerous countries, and the singer was honored with the World Music Award for Connor's international successes in the same year. This was followed by the singles "Living to Love You" and "From Zero to Hero" as well as the fourth album Naughty but Nice, which also quickly achieved gold status. In 2005, she was awarded the Comet Music Prize for Best Female Artist and released the album Christmas in My Heart, the song of the same name served as the Coca-Cola Christmas advertising song for two years. Further albums followed in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2015 Soulicious, Sexy as Hell, Real Love, Muttersprache - the latter was a huge success and went five times platinum. Her album Herz Kraft Werke, released in September 2019, reached number one in the charts in Germany and number three in Switzerland. After Sarah Connor had already released a Christmas album in 2005 with Christmas in My Heart, another Christmas longplayer followed in 2022 with Not So Silent Night. At the end of May 2025, Sarah Connor returns with Freigeistin, her tenth studio album. It takes her to the top of the charts in Germany and Austria and reaches number 2 in Switzerland.
