Biography
Lazarus A.D. was an American thrash and groove metal ensemble formed in 2005 in Kenosha. The group consisted of Jeff Paulick, Dan Gapen, Alex Lackner, and Ryan Shutler. Originally known as Lazarus, the band added the suffix to avoid legal disputes. The ensemble self-released its debut studio recording, The Onslaught, in 2007. After signing with Metal Blade Records, the album was reissued in 2009. The recording was included on a list of 250 thrash metal albums by Rock Hard magazine. The band toured with groups including Amon Amarth, Testament, and Unearth. Its second studio recording, Black Rivers Flow, appeared in January 2011. Following the album's release, the group performed with Death Angel and Bonded by Blood. Shutler died in May 2015. The ensemble became inactive shortly after.
