Biography

Evile is an English thrash metal band from Huddersfield that formed in 2004. The founding members included drummer Ben Carter, vocalist and rhythm guitarist Matt Drake, lead guitarist Ol Drake, and bassist Mike Alexander. They initially performed as a cover band called Metal Militia before dedicating themselves to writing original material. Evile released the demos All Hallows Eve (2004) and Hell Demo (2006) independently before signing with Earache Records. Their debut studio album, Enter the Grave, was released in 2007 and reached number 33 on the UK rock album charts. The track “Thrasher” was featured as downloadable content for the video game Rock Band (2008). The band supported major acts including Megadeth and Exodus on international tours. Following the death of Mike Alexander in 2009, they recruited Joel Graham to join the group. Their subsequent recordings include the albums Infected Nations (2009), Five Serpent's Teeth (2011), and Skull (2013). After a hiatus and several lineup changes, including the departure of Matt Drake, the group released the albums Hell Unleashed (2021) and The Unknown (2023). Hell Unleashed reached number 5 on the UK rock charts. The current lineup features Carter, Graham, Ol Drake on lead vocals and lead guitar, and Adam Smith on rhythm guitar.
