Biography

Lacrim was born Karim Zenoud on April 19, 1985 in the 20th arrondissement of Paris to Algerian immigrant parents. Revealed by the Liberté Provisoire mixtape, rapper Lacrim, who is close to Mister You, released a "street-album" in May 2012, following on from his debut, Faites Entrer Lacrim . The album manages to reach the top 20 of French bestsellers on its release. It is followed by the mixtapeToujours le Même (No. 173) in December 2012 and Né pour Mourir (No. 12) in May 2013. In 2014, Lacrim reaches number one on the French sales charts with Corleone. In 2015, Lacrim, on the run from the law, which is interested in him in connection with a weapons possession case, releases the mixtape R.I.P.R.O. Volume 1 (whose initials stand for Rusé, Insoumis, Professionnel, Respectable, Omerta), which reaches No. 1. His escape ended before the release of Volume 2 (No. 12). But before surrendering, he took care to prepare the promotion of his record and shoot the video clips for the tracks "J'ai mal", "Poutine" and "Marabout". Between regular appearances on albums by other artists, he worked on the album Force & Honneur (#1 in 2017), alongside which the mixtape R.I.P.R.O Volume 3 (#1) was released. He also set up his own label, Plata o Plomo Records. Under the latter, he releases the double album Lacrim (No. 1 in 2019), featuring contributions from 6ix9ine, Snoop Dogg, French Montana, Cheb Mami and Oxmo Puccino. In 2020, the rapper publishes the fourth volume of his R.I.P.R.O project (No. 2), on which he once again invites many names from the French rap scene, including Niska, Ninho, Leto, Jul, Soso Maness, Sfera Ebbasta, Goulag, Vladimir Cauchemar and Maes on the single "Boston George". In 2021, he released his fourth album, Persona Non Grata, which reached No. 6. After three years' silence, the rapper returned in 2024 with the single "7 vies", featuring the participation of Sofiane Pamart. The track preceded the release of the album Veni Vidi Vici (#6) and the mixtape RIPRO (2025). In 2026, Lacrim returns with a bilingual French-Italian project, Cipriani, featuring transalpine artists Baby Gang, Guè, Luchè, Lazza, Simba La Rue, Emis Killa, Noyz Narcos, Emma Marrone, Niky Savage, Nerissima Serpe and Papa V.
