Biography

La Troba Kung-Fú is a Spanish musical group originating from Barcelona. The band is known for its fusion of rumba with various other styles and has been recognized as one of the leading figures in "mestizos" music alongside groups like Ojos de Brujo and Macaco. Founded by Joan Garriga after the dissolution of Dusminguet, La Troba Kung-Fú released their debut album Clavell Morenet in 2007, which was made available for free download in high-quality MP3 format alongside an electronic gazette. This strategy, combined with self-production, earned Joan Garriga the City of Barcelona Prize in 2007. The group continued to release albums including Rumbia at Ernesto's (2009), A la panxa del bou (2010), and Santalegria (2013). La Troba Kung-Fú has performed extensively across Europe, including notable appearances in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Catalonia, Spain, and at the Lincoln Center in New York.
