Kissing the Pink was formed in London, United Kingdom, in 1980 by a group of musicians who sought to blend the melodic sensibilities of new wave with the rhythmic drive of rock music, quickly establishing themselves within the burgeoning synthpop scene. Their debut studio effort, Naked, was released on 27 May 1983, followed by What Noise? in 1984 and Certain Things Are Likely in 1986, the trio of releases that helped the band secure a dedicated following across the UK and continental Europe; the tracks from these early records were frequently played on contemporary hit radio and helped cement Kissing the Pinkâs reputation for polished, hookâheavy songwriting. After a brief hiatus, the group returned with the album Sugarland in 1993, a collection that showcased a more mature, layered production style, before later releasing Digital People on 26 March 2015, which incorporated modern electronic textures while retaining the melodic focus that had defined their earlier work. In 2025, the band returned with their sixth album, Everything's for Sale.
