King Parrot, an Australian grindcore band, was formed in Melbourne in 2010. The original lineup included Matt Young on vocals, Ed Lacey and Ari White on guitar, Slatts Everday on bass, and Matt Rizzo on drums. Their debut EP, The Stench of Hardcore Pub Trash, came out in September 2011. After Lacey's departure, Andrew Livingstone-Squires joined the band, and they released their first full-length album, Bite Your Head Off, in October 2012. This album was later picked up by Candlelight Records for worldwide distribution in 2013. King Parrot gained prominence through extensive touring and notable festival appearances, including the Hammersonic Jakarta International Metal Festival in Indonesia (2013) and SXSW in Austin, Texas (2014). Their second album, Dead Set, released in May 2015, peaked at number 21 on the Australian albums chart.
