Biography
Despair is a thrash metal band from Dortmund, Germany, formed in 1986. The original lineup included Robert Kampf, Klaus Pachura, Thomas "Donald" König, Waldemar Sorychta, and Marek Greschek. They released the demo Surviving You Always (1987). König was replaced by Markus Freiwald shortly after the band's formation. The debut album, History of Hate (1988), was the first release on the Century Media label. In 1989, Andreas Henschel replaced Kampf as the vocalist. Despair released the albums Decay of Humanity (1990) and Beyond All Reason (1992) before disbanding in 1993. The band returned in 2017 with a lineup featuring Sorychta, Freiwald, vocalist Marc Grewe, and bassist Marius Ickert.
