Kevin Hansford, known professionally as K-Def, was born on June 17, 1970 and is an American hip hop producer and DJ based in New Jersey. He began his career in the early 1990s, gaining critical acclaim for his work with Marley Marl on Here Come the Lords by Lords of the Underground, which included notable tracks such as "Funky Child" and "Chief Rocka". K-Def was also a member of the duo Real Live, releasing their album The Turnaround: A Long Awaited Drama in 1996. Throughout his career, he collaborated with prominent artists including Ghostface Killah, Puff Daddy, and Ol' Dirty Bastard. His production style is characterized by blues-soul sampling. K-Def's notable releases include Willie Boo Boo "The Fool "(2006), Beats From The 90's Vol. 1 (2008), and Night Shift (2011). He also contributed to various projects, such as Diddy's Press Play (2006) and UGK's Underground Kingz (2007).
