Biography

Karma to Burn, an American rock band from Morgantown, West Virginia, were formed in 1993. Known for their instrumental stoner rock sound, they were named after a note on Bob Dylan's Desire album. After self-promotion, Karma to Burn signed with Roadrunner Records in 1996 and released their debut album, Karma to Burn, in 1997, featuring vocalist Jason Jarosz. Despite critical acclaim, the album didn't fare well commercially and led to the departure of Jason Jarosz as well as their departure from the label. They continued as an instrumental trio, releasing Wild, Wonderful Purgatory in 1999 and Almost Heathen in 2001 before disbanding in mid-2002. Karma to Burn reunited in 2009 and released Appalachian Incantation in 2010, featuring vocals from Daniel Davies and John García on select tracks. They continued touring extensively and released several more albums, including V in 2011 and Mountain Czar in 2016. Founding guitarist Will Mecum died in 2021 following a fall.
