Biography

During her childhood in Avignon, Julie Fuchs (born in Meaux on July 24, 1984) hesitated between the violin and singing. In the end, she chose the latter at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, before embarking on an international career. Revealed at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in the title role of Lully'sAcis et Galatée, the soprano singer was crowned a few months later with the "Révélation lyrique" trophy at the 2012 Victoires de la musique classique awards. Sponsor of the Tous à l'opéra operation with Ruggero Raimondi, she signs with the Deutsche Grammophon label for her first recital, Yes! (2015), in which she performs works by Ravel, Weill, Messager and Poulenc. In 2015, she made her Paris Opéra debut in Rameau's Platée, followed by appearances at the Salzburg Festival, the BBC Proms, the Chorégies d'Orange and the Vienna Staatsoper. In 2017, she sang in the premiere of Luca Francesconi's Trompe-la-mort at the Paris Opéra, as well as Schubert'sAve Maria at Johnny Hallyday's funeral. The following year saw her face controversy after her eviction from The Magic Flute because of her pregnancy. After her participation in the collective album Elles et Barbara (2017) and Bizet's opera Les Pêcheurs de perles (2018), her second recital Mademoiselle (2019) is dedicated to bel canto.
