Biography

German singer Simone Kermes (b. Leipzig, 1970) distinguished herself in the Mendelssohn-Bartholdy competition in Berlin and the J. S. Bach competition in her native city, before going on to shine on international stages. Her light, dramatic soprano timbre is particularly well-suited to the Baroque operas of G. F. Handel, which she performed in succession, or to Mozart's great classical operas, from The Abduction from the Seraglio and The Magic Flute to Cosi fan tutte and Don Giovanni. The "Queen of the Night", with her flamboyant red hair, has won numerous awards for her recitals, including the Echo Klassik Prize in 2011 for her album Colori d'Amore. In 2012, her new opus Dramma was once again hailed by the critics. In 2014, the Rival Queens recital sees her sing a duet with American mezzo-soprano Vivica Genaux. The album Love , released in 2016, brings together Baroque arias on the theme of love.
