Joyce Manor, an American indie rock band, was formed in Torrance, California, in 2008 by Barry Johnson (lead vocals, guitar) and Chase Knobbe (guitar). The duo began playing house shows with an acoustic folk-punk sound, releasing their debut EP Constant Headache in March 2010. The band's lineup expanded to include bassist Matt Ebert and drummer Kurt Walcher in 2009, leading to the release of their self-titled debut album in January 2011 through indie label 6131 Records. This album featured the single "Constant Headache" and gained significant traction through word-of-mouth and social media platforms like Tumblr. In 2014, Joyce Manor signed with Epitaph Records and released Never Hungover Again, which peaked at Number 106 on the Billboard 200. The band continued to evolve musically with subsequent albums such as Cody (2016), Million Dollars to Kill Me (2018), and 40 Oz. to Fresno (2022). Following the successive departures of its drummers, the band recruited Jared Shavelson for touring in 2024 and recorded its seventh album, I Used to Go to This Bar, released in January 2026.
