Biography

Rafiek George, known professionally as Journalist, is an American rapper from the United States. He began his music career after graduating high school in 1995. He initially supported himself through various jobs including public speaking and youth counseling while pursuing a recording contract. In 1999, Journalist auditioned for Universal Records with Julius Erving Jr. as his manager. After leaving the label without success, he released his debut album Scribes of Life on Motown in 2002. The album featured guest appearances from artists such as Backbone and Floetry, along with production by DJ Jazzy Jeff. In 2009, Journalist joined the hip-hop supergroup Army of the Pharaohs, contributing to their album The Unholy Terror. He has since released several mixtapes and continues to work on his second studio album titled Fast Nowhere, set for release via his own label Hardrout.
