The Josh Joplin Group was an American alternative rock band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1996 by singer-songwriter Josh Joplin. The initial lineup included Joplin, bassist/violist Geoff Melkonian, and drummer Jason Buecker. Early independent releases included Projector Head (1996) and Boxing Nostalgic (1997). The band broke through with the album Useful Music (1999), featuring the hit single "Camera One", which became the first independent release to reach No. 1 on Triple A radio and peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard Top 40 in 2001. Their follow-up, The Future That Was (2002), saw lower sales, leading to the group's disbandment in December 2003. The band reunited to release the album Figure Drawing on March 29, 2024, followed by GpYr in April 2025.
