Indie rockers Joker Out formed in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2016, founded by three former members of the group ApokalipsaâBojan CvjetiÄanin (vocals), Martin JurkoviÄ (drums), and Matic KovaÄiÄ (bass)âplus Kris GuÅ¡tin (guitar) and Jan Peteh, both formerly of the group Buržuazija. Joker Out released their first single, "Kot srce, ki kri poganja," in November of 2016, before winning the fourth season of televised talent show the Å pil League in 2017. The group began to tour and release a series of well-received singles including âOmamljeno teloâ (2017), âGolaâ (2019), âVem, da greÅ¡â (2020), âUmazane misliâ (2020), and âA sem ti povedalâ (2021). At the first FriÅ¡no/Fresh - The Day of New Slovenian Music festival, their song âUmazane misliâ was voted as the New Slovenian Composition of the Last Year. They also received two Zlata piÅ¡Äal awards for Newcomers of the Year (2020) and Artists of the Year (2021). In 2021, drummer Matic KovaÄiÄ left the group and was replaced by Jure MaÄek before the release of their debut album, Umazane misli. The following year, they released their second album, Demoni (2022), which featured the singles âKatrinaâ and âBarve Oceana.â Joker Out were chosen to represent Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023 with âCarpe Diem.â While the song came in 21st place, it hit Number 1 on the singles chart in Slovenia and rose to Number 4 in Lithuania and Sweden. In 2023, Joker out released the single âNew Wave,â which featured a guest appearance from Elvis Costello. The following year, they released their third album Souvenir Pop.
