Vlado Kreslin, born on November 29, 1953, in Beltinci, is a Slovenian singer-songwriter and folk-rock musician. He began his musical career in 1970 as a drummer in the band Apollo. In 1983, he joined Martin Krpan and released several albums with the group, such as Od viÅ¡ine se zvrti (1987) and Bogovi in Ovce (1988). Kreslin later played a mixture of Slovene folk and rock music with the BeltinÅ¡ka Banda and Mali Bogovi. His notable albums include Namesto koga roža cveti (1991), SpominÄice (1992), and NajlepÅ¡e leta naÅ¡ega življenja (1993). Kreslin has collaborated with various international artists, including REM. His annual concerts at Cankar Hall in Ljubljana have become a traditional event in the city's cultural calendar. In 2009, he was honored by Yale University as a Quincey Porter Fellow, and in 2020, he received the Ježek Award, followed by the Golden Flute for lifetime achievement in 2021. He received the Order of Merit for outstanding creative contributions to Slovenian musical art from the President of Slovenia in June 2022.
