JófrÃður Ãkadóttir, known professionally as JFDR, was born on August 4, 1994, in Iceland and is a singer. She began her musical journey at the age of 14 with the formation of Pascal Pinon, releasing their self-produced debut album Pascal Pinon in 2009. In 2011, she formed Samaris, which won the Icelandic MúsÃktilraunir competition and released several EPs and albums including Silkidrangar (2014) and Black Lights (2016). JFDR's solo career commenced with the release of her debut album Brazil in 2017, followed by the EP JFDR - White Sun Live. Part I: Strings in 2018. She has collaborated extensively, working with artists such as Low Roar, Lapalux, and Damien Rice. JFDR's album New Dreams (2020) won the ReykjavÃk Grapevine Music Awards 2021 for Album of the Year. Her work also includes composing music for film, television, and videogame projects like Backyard Village, Sisterhood, and Death Stranding.
