Biography

Juan Antonio Jiménez Muñoz, known professionally as Jeros or Jero, was a Spanish composer and singer. He formed the rumba group Los Chichos with Emilio and Julio González Gabarre. Their debut single "Quiero Ser Libre" from the album Ni Más Ni Menos marked their breakthrough. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Jeros composed numerous hits for Los Chichos, including "Amor De Compra Y Venta" and "Bailarás Con Alegría." He also composed for other artists, including songs such as "Orgullo" for Las Grecas. He achieved significant commercial success with Los Chichos, selling over 15 million records and earning multiple gold and platinum certifications. He left the group in 1990 and released solo albums under the name Jeros. He died on October 22, 1995, in Madrid. A posthumous tribute album, Homenaje A Jeros, was released in 2001.
