J.C. Lodge, born June Carol Lodge on December 1, 1958 in England, is a British-Jamaican reggae singer and fine artist. Born to a Jamaican father and British mother, Lodge was taken to Jamaica as a child where she became immersed in R&B and reggae music. Her breakthrough came with the release of "Someone Loves You Honey" in 1980, a reggae version of Charley Pride's country and western tune which topped the Jamaican charts and earned gold and platinum discs in the Netherlands, becoming the Number 1 top-selling single of 1982. This success led to her first album Someone Loves You Honey released in 1982. Lodge continued her career with albums like Revealed (1985), I Believe In You (1987), and Selfish Lover (1990). Her song "Telephone Love" became the first dancehall reggae track to cross over in the R&B and hip-hop markets in the United States, reaching number 95 on the US R&B chart. She also collaborated with artists like Tiger and Shabba Ranks. In addition to her music career, Lodge is an accomplished painter and has acted in several theatre productions. She returned to England in 2001 and recorded Reggae Country (2002), an album of covers of American country songs. Inspired by the birth of her daughter, she created original children's songs for her "Sing 'n' Learn" albums, which were well-received in Jamaica.
