American extreme metal group Incantation, from New York, was formed in 1989 by guitarist Brett Makowski and bassist Aragon Amori. The band initially included guitarist John McEntee and drummer Paul Ledney. Their first demo, featuring "Profanation", "Unholy Massacre", and a cover of Hellhammer's "The Third of the Storms", was released in 1990. This early work laid the groundwork for their future releases. In 1992, Incantation released their debut album Onward to Golgotha through Relapse Records, marking a significant milestone in their career. The band underwent several lineup changes over the years, with key members including Will Rahmer on vocals and Craig Pillard on guitar. Their second album, Mortal Throne of Nazarene, was released in 1994, followed by Upon the Throne of Apocalypse in 1995. Incantation continued to release albums throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, including Diabolical Conquest (1998) and The Infernal Storm (2000). The band's themes often revolved around satanism, occultism, anti-Christianity, and blasphemy. In 2004, they signed with Listenable Records and released Decimate Christendom. Notable albums from their later career include Primordial Domination (2006) and Dirges of Elysium (2014).
