Icebreaker International, a UK electronic and techno duo consisting of Alexander Perls and Simon Break, formed in the late 1990s. The pair met while Perls was attending school in London and later joined Glen Johnson in the musical collective Piano Magic. Their debut single, "Icebreaker" / "Piano Magic - #1", was released in 1998. Their debut album, Distant Early Warning, was released in September 1999 through Aesthetics, inspired by NATO radar stations and funded by NATOarts. In early 2000, they embarked on a conceptual project aboard the container ship Trein Maersk, recording an audio document promoting free international trade. The resulting album, Trein Maersk: A Report to the NATOarts Board of Directors, was released in 2000. Their third and final album, Into Forever, a collaboration with Manual, was released in 2003.
