Biography

Kenny Segal, born December 3, 1979 in Rockville, Maryland, is an American record producer and DJ. He started playing cello in school orchestras before attending the University of Southern California on a computer engineering scholarship, later switching to audio recording. Segal's early career involved performing drum and bass at Konkrete Jungle parties in the 1990s, where he met rappers from the Project Blowed collective. Inspired by Los Angeles' underground rap scene, he transitioned to hip hop. Segal released his debut album Ken Can Cook in February 2008, a concept album centered around food and cooking featuring guest appearances from Abstract Rude, Aceyalone, Myka 9, and P.E.A.C.E. In 2015, he produced the critically acclaimed album So the Flies Don't Come for Milo. Segal's instrumental album Happy Little Trees, released in October 2018, was included on Bandcamp Daily's "Best Beat Tapes of 2018" list. Since 2013, he released the albums series Kensttrumentalz, comprising five volumes in 2025. Following the solo album Indoors (2021), Segal collaborated with Billy Woods for Maps (2023), Human Error Club for Kenny's House (2025), and R.A.P. Ferreira for The Night Green Side of It (2025).
